The new lineup combines mobile Tiger Lake-H with Nvidia's GeForce RTX Ampere graphics.These models are home to Intel's 10 nm SuperFin Tiger Lake-H processors with a 45W TDP. You can choose from three SKUs, with one sporting an Intel Core i5-11400H paired with an RTX 3060, while the Core i7-11800H model is available with either an RTX 3060 or 3070. Intel has created five configurations, all with Tiger Lake processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs. Additionally, the configurations share dual-channel SODIMMs.
However, Intel equips the entry-level model with a Core i5-11400H, a GeForce RTX 3060 and an FHD panel that peaks at 144 Hz. By contrast, all other configurations have a Core i7-11800H and a GeForce RTX 3070, along with a choice between a QHD/165 Hz display and an FHD/240 Hz one.
Essentially, all CPUs powering these kits are Intel’s new H45 processors. That being said, Intel hasn’t mentioned the TGP ratings of the RTX GPUs, so we’re not entirely sure if we’re looking at the normal Max-P or Max-Q variants of those card.
The laptop is equipped with a narrow-bezel IPS display panel with a 16:9 ratio, with either a FHD (1080p) with a 144Hz refresh rate or a impressive 240Hz refresh rate, along with a QHD (1440p) display with a 165Hz refresh rate.Design-wise, expect a 15.6-inch laptop with a black magnesium alloy chassis, along with an optical mechanical keyboard with per key RGB back-lighting
Intel has complemented the GPUs and fast displays with two M.2 slots, one being PCIe 4.0 x4. The device will also have several ports, including HDMI 2.0b, DisplayPort 1.4b. The machine will be configurable with up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM, too
Intel has provided a good selection of I/O connectivity, including three USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, and one Thunderbolt 4 port. Connectivity is provided by an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 module with integrated Bluetooth version 5.2.
94 Wh battery rounds powers the NUC X15, which should keep it ticking over for a few hours of gaming sessions. The inclusion of an HDMI 2.1 port makes the NUC X15 suitable for connecting to a high-refresh-rate external monitor, too. Intel has not hinted at any recommended prices for the NUC X15 yet, though.
Intel hasn’t hinted at any recommended pricing for these reference kits, and it’s also hard to tell which OEMs will be willing to carry these kits. It’s interesting to see these laptops kits coming directly from Intel to show the kind of performance you can expect out of gaming laptops now.
