RAZER BLACKWIDOW V3 MINI HYPERSPEED

The best gaming keyboard is a joy to game on and a breeze to type on. Along with the humble gaming mouse, it's through these tools that most PC games are played, so it's absolutely worth making sure you're resting your digits on a great gaming keyboard when you're settling in for a session.

FEATURES

Razer's Blackwidow keyboard has been given a fresh lick of form factor paint today, losing both its wires and its number pad to become the (breathe in) Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed. The BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed delivers the features that gamers expect including Razer green mechanical switches, N-key rollover, Chroma RGB lighting, and support for macros. It offers three connectivity options: USB-C wired, Bluetooth wireless, and Razer’s own low-latency HyperSpeed wireless. This new, wireless 65% version of Razer's popular mechanical gaming keyboard takes everything you know and love about the original Blackwidow, including those all-important arrow keys, and shrinks it down into a more compact chassis. It comes in both linear Razer Yellow and clicky, tactile Razer Green switches, and offers both 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth connectivity for up to 200 hours of use.

PORTABLE

A fraction of the size of a standard gaming keyboard, this one is portable, usable in tight spaces, and provides more room for mousing. And it does so without sacrificing any of the functionality or performance that gamers expect from a Razer BlackWidow keyboard.

To meet the demands of competitive gaming, we’ve created the fastest wireless technology with a stability to match. This wireless 65% mechanical gaming keyboard comes armed with our most advanced wireless technology for low-latency gaming and hyper-responsive inputs—made possible through an optimized data protocol, ultra-fast radio frequency and seamless frequency switching in the noisiest, data-saturated environments. With our multi-device support, streamline your setup by connecting your wireless mouse and keyboard to a single dongle—a feature that can be activated in our latest Razer HyperSpeed peripherals.

CONNECTIVITY

No matter how you prefer to connect to your gaming PC, the Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed has you covered. If you prefer the convenience of Bluetooth wireless connectivity, support is onboard. With Bluetooth, you can even conveniently cycle between three different paired devices. For the ultimate in low-latency wireless performance, this keyboard is also equipped with Razer’s proprietary HyperSpeed wireless connectivity. Using 2.4GHz and an included USB dongle, HyperSpeed employs advanced, Adaptive Frequency Technology that scans all available channels every millisecond, automatically switching to the cleanest one to eliminate interference that causes lag.

If you prefer a wired connection, use the detachable USB-C cable to plug into your PC. The detachable USB-C cable to plug into your PC. The same cable is used to charge the wireless keyboard’s battery, but with up to 200 hours of battery life, don’t expect to have to do so very often.

The HyperSpeed dongle can connect to multiple Razer devices. At the moment, however, it only syncs with three recent Razer wireless mice: DeathAdder V2 Pro, Naga Pro and Orochi V2. If you have one of these mice, multi-device support is convenient.

RAZER GREEN KEY MECHANICAL SWITCHES

The Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini has clicking green or linear yellow switches from Razer. The Razer Yellows we used for this review have been updated with sound absorbers to reduce their clatter. They are not silent, but are relatively quiet for mechanical keys. The Razer Yellows have slightly less stroke and faster operation than its main counterpart, the Cherry MX Silent Red, although this redesigned design feels a bit stiffer than other line switches. Competing gamers who want the fastest download may not like the sound of it, but a line switch with less than a hair trigger feels like an upgrade overall.

Using a doubleshot molding process to ensure the labelling never wears off, the keycaps also have extra-thick walls which make them extremely tough to withstand prolonged, repeated use.

BATTERY

In terms of battery life the Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed is good for up to 200 hours of charge on a single charge with the RGB lighting turned off. At full brightness, Razer claims the BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed will last around 17 hours before a top-up is required.

RGB LIGHTING

The BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed is also equipped with Razer’s Chroma RGB programmable lighting. The keys are all backlit of course with Razer Chroma lighting which has freakish levels of customization in the Chroma Studio app. But be warned; running the V3 Mini with full lighting effects and HyperSpeed connection will drain the battery reserves absurdly quickly.

The Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini is one of the only options in its chosen market at the moment. Though there other 10-keyless wireless keyboards available, none offer the lightweight, uber-tiny 65% of the V3 Mini, while also packing arrow keys and a ultra-fast wireless performance. This plus its solid build quality make it a great option for lounge gamers, or people looking for a compact travel-friendly ‘board for work and play. The only downside is that, like all Razer products, it is very expensive.
